Our Great Love Day

Valentine's Day 2009

As I had before mentioned, Tony bought me some great bubble bath for my birthday. When I woke up on Valentine's Day, Tony gave me a super sweet card that gave me instructions, including taking a bubble bath. Well, since I'm not that big on "alone" time (I'd much rather hang with my hubby & kids than hang out by myself), I passed on that one. Not to mention that once I get in the tub, I probably won't be able to get myself out without assistance. But Tony would probably laugh at me more than he'd help me out of the tub...so I kindly declined. ;)

His card also mentioned that I needed to hurry up and be ready by 1pm. I was clueless. He has to work on Saturdays, what did this mean? This meant that he took the day off to spend Valentine's Day with me! I was SO excited, and surprised. I love my hubby dearly, but he's, how does one say...romantically challenged. So when he surprised me by taking the day off, he surpassed all of my love day expectations.

We drove into Mesa...while my awesome brother & his wife watched our kids for a few hours, Tony and I went on a nice picnic. Tony had packed us a nice little lunch and we ate at a nearby park. Afterwards, we went over to the Temple and spent some much needed time there. It was so great to have some alone time with my hubby...we really do have a lot of fun together, and it's too easy to forget that I like to hang with him. :) After we went to pick up our kids, we went to dinner with Ry & Jess and then headed home. It was a fantastic day. Definitely beat the Valentine's Day he forgot about me and bought treats for the dog. But we won't go into that...

This pic is of us on Valentine's Day. For whatever reason, Tony thought he'd be, uh, cool, and grow out a mustache. I can't tell you how much I can't stand facial hair. Seriously, only a few guys can pull it off and look good...but even if it did look good on him, that stuff is so not fun to kiss. Ick. So here's me, 6 1/2 months pregnant and Tony, whom I called Nacho Libre for 2 weeks. I held his Valentine's day presents hostage until he shaved it off, and I'm happy to say that he's been clean ever since! Ohhh, how I love my clean shaven man.

I would have threatened to make him start wearing only 'stretchy pants' until he shaved.

How sweet that he took the day off! props to him!

Way to go Tony, very impressive.
A "kid free" day is always a much sought after treat!
