Today that kids and I went into Mesa to meet an old dear friend of mine, Laurie, for lunch - what a treat! I haven't seen her for a good 10+ years, and it was wonderful to see her & her cute family. I hope I get to see them again soon!
After lunch, the kids stayed in town and ran around. We went to Hobby Lobby, Mervyn's, Michael's. The kids were being really good, but Alex is a 5 y/o boy and Emma is almost 2 . . . enough said. Emma ended up wetting thru her diaper while we were at Mervyn's, so I picked up an extra outfit for her and changed her diaper and her clothes while, all while we were waiting in line behind two ladies that figured they'd buy out the store. Good times, let me tell ya. Anyways, we ended shopping with Deseret Book, only because I got a 40% off any book coupon in my email and I thought I'd see if there was anything that I really wanted.
I decided on "Emma", by Anita Stansfield. While I was paying for the book, Alex starts bugging me because he's hungry, again (the kid is hungry/starving like every 10 minutes, not even joking). I was talking to the guy at the register about something and had to keep reminding Alex to be patient. And then all of a sudden Alex whacks me on the back and says (loud enough for other people in the store to hear) "YOU WIENER". It took everything I had not to burst out laughing. I'm certain he gave the sweet old lady in line behind us a heart attack. I had to turn away from him because I was giggling . . . the guy at the register kindly responded in my defense with "It's not nice to call your mom names . . ."; I promptly thanked the guy, grabbed my bag, took Alex's hand and rushed he and Emma out of the store before more profanity came flying out of his little mouth.
Don't worry, we had the "that's not a nice word" talk with him once we got out to the van. Honestly, I have NO idea where he learned that word. We don't use that specific one, but then again, he does attend public school. Oh well, such is my life . . .

That is hilarious!! I'm still giggling. I think that is one of the hardest parts about being a parent...not busting out laughing when they do stuff like that, lol.
Don't you just love the things that kids say...and when they say them!? They'll never do it when it's just you. It's always got to be in public. Gotta love it!
I would have had a hard time keeping a straight face too... at least you found it funny instead of getting angry! My 3 year old's favorite insult right now is "stupidhead." I'm not sure where she picked it up, and we're really trying to break her of it, but still, every time she lisps out the word in her cute baby voice, it makes me want to howl with laughter. The joys of motherhood...
by the way, how are you? your house is so cute!
