Another sign of the times

Taken just days apart...

Tony's Gma Reese emailed me this link that has several pictures of the before and after of Hurricane Ike that hit Texas.

After reading a lot about the hurricane aftermath and how it effected so many people, it makes me wonder how many of them took the warnings seriously, and if they did, how many of them sincerely prepared? How many of them had 72 hour kits prepared for each member of their families? How many of them had canned goods stored in their homes that they could still find & use after the hurricane hit? What other catastrophes are going to come? What else is it going to take to get people to heed our Prophet's counsel? I know that I go a bit overboard buying food & supplies when I can get it for pennies on the dollar, but at the same time, I'm grateful that I can rest assured that I have at least a 72 hour kit ready for each of us if need be.

I'm also grateful to live in AZ where (crossing my fingers), nothing crazy like this will ever happen!

Definition of "standing in the face of adversity"!

You're absolutely right. That one photo gets me- the last one... That guy seems like a moron to me. GET to safety!! Don't let your pride stop you from doing what you should be doing...
Anywho- thought provoking blog.

Funny you should mention this because we had a 72 hour kit, kind of, but I felt a real push this week and so for family home evening last night we put together our 72 hour kits. Each kid has their own backpack. It was actually fun to do. I am glad to know you are prepared too! Lets keep our fingers crossed that nothing does happen.

My friend and her family live in Texas and they still don't have power or water at their home. I do feel very blessed to live in AZ and not have all these hurricanes and tornadoes here. I can deal with the monsoons.
