I admit it, I'm in love with the Work and the Glory series. Over the past couple of weeks, I've watched all 3 movies probably 100 times. For whatever reason, I have recently adopted a deep love for church history. Maybe my calling as a teacher in Relief Society sparked it, as we're studying Joseph Smith, but whatever the reason may be, I'm thankful for it. As shameful as it is, I have never read the Work & the Glory books. I gave in and finally bought the first two in paperback last Wednesday. I finished the first tonight and am anxious to get started on the second. So if you don't hear from me much the next few days, at least until I can get my hands on the rest, you know what I'm doing!I actually have a dear non-member friend that I'm thinking of giving this book to. She really enjoys historical novels and I think this might just be enough to get her to ask more questions about the Gospel. This book truly amazed me, as far as how historically correct it is (Gerald N. Lund is a great historian), and I think this might introduce an easier way to get my friend to become more curious of what's inside the Book of Mormon.
And in case you're curious, I didn't/couldn't get into the Twilight series; it bored me to pieces! I'm more of a non-fiction fan. Sorry all you devout Edward lovers! Hope we can still be friends! :P

I know what you mean. I don't have the movies but wish I did. I loved the books and actually, when I go to Utah this weekend I am going to borrow the whole series from Grandma R. and read them again. It has been a long time since I have read them but they are fabulous. I love that he tells the good and bad of the things that happened in the early church. He doesn't just gloss over the mistakes that the Prophet made or anything and that makes it more real. Sorry about the novel.
I liked the Twilight series but then I love the that kind of science fiction stuff.
I love you!
